eCommerce in Cargo Transportation (eFreightex)

Overview

As part of technical assistance to TTCA-NC, the ECA Hub is facilitating the implementation of a Business-to-Business/Business-to-Government (B2B/B2G) platform that would support e-commerce in transport services as well as develop a platform for IT-enabled licensing/accreditation of transport operators.

The main beneficiaries are expected to be members of the Kenya Transporters Association (KTA), KSC, KIFWA and their stakeholders in the Northern Corridor region. Towards this end, a scoping and planning meeting was held and drew participants from KIFWA, KTA, TTCA-NC and the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM).

A presentation titled 'Concept Paper: B2B, B2G and Portal for the Transportation Industry' that outlined the concepts of the B2B platform linking transporters to shippers, the B2G platform allowing the online application for TLB licenses as a start and an information portal that was aimed to enhance information dissemination in the sector.
